Many individuals with lung cancer are seemingly asymptomatic, at least until the disease has progressed. However, recent studies indicate that although they may be vague, symptoms do exist, including the following:

• Coughing
  
  
• Hoarseness
  
  
• Shortness of breath (dypsnea)
  
  
• Fatigue
  
  
• Chest, shoulder, upper back and arm pain
  
  
• Pneumonia or bronchitis
  
  
• Blood coughed up in sputum
  
  
• Loss of appetite and weight loss
  
  
• General pain
  
  
• Wheezing
  
  
• Swelling in the face or neck

Additional symptoms can include severe headache, bleeding, bone fractures, blood clots, and weakness of the arms and legs.
